En Esch's pop sensibility on lovelorn "The Sweetest Aggravation"

If the latest single from En Esch reminds you of "Good Vibrations" that's no coincidence. The enigmatic artist produced "The Sweetest Aggravation" in homage to The Beach Boys defining pop single. "Way ahead of it’s time production-wise, I tried to capture the 'vibe' of that song in my own way," says the artist.

There's mastery on display here. 90s dance floor drum programming, shrill leads, and layers of synth arpeggios accompany a candy-coated duet with Erica Dilanjian (Lords of Acid) and additional instrumentation and production courtesy of Gabriel Lennox. The third single from En Esch's upcoming full-length makes it clear what to expect from the project: the unexpected.

Artist Statement

"'The Sweetest Aggravation' describes the unfortunate situation between two partners who see their relationship in two different ways. It’s about unfulfilled feelings, wanting things to be different, wanting them to be the way we see they could be and desperately trying to do anything to make that happen. It's about the difficulty in dealing with a partner who has a different concept about the exact same experience." -En Esch
EbE404, fresh off the release of their latest full-length Dark Ice Days, compliments the original's deathpop sensibility with a perfectly executed remix that plunges "The Sweetest Aggravation" into far more ominous territory.
